“It’s fucking cool. The accountability gives you the boost to create something that you otherwise wouldn't be creating. It’s also the networking. I meet some really amazing, talented people.”

Gus Sarkodee

“Art of Freelance has so far been one of the best things to happen to me in my creative journey as it allowed me to learn, build and adapt to a systematic process to approaching projects, whether personal or commercial. I am so grateful for my time in the workshop and to the team for guiding me in putting out my first editorial project and I would definitely recommend it to all my creatives out there who just want to move to the next step.”

Nasrah Omar

“I'm eternally grateful for my amazing cohort of such talented people whose input and support was so incredible. There was such a sense of camaraderie and encouragement.”

Five-star reviews from more than 100 creatives

Hal Banfield

"I loved the opportunity to be hyper-focused on a personal project for a concentrated period of time and be in a group of creatives also working to produce interesting and inspirational work."

Katherine Cheng

"Art of Freelance was such a unique experience, as it's focused on the bigger picture. I've attended many workshops before about the skills and tips of freelancing, but AoF gets at something deeper. It had the miraculous effect of reminding me why I wanted to go into freelance in the first place and pursue a life in the creative industry, despite knowing how difficult it can be. With the challenges of Covid the past couple of years, this was a refreshing reminder that I did not even realize I needed until I felt that spark of excitement again from listening to other passionate creatives.”

Michael Starghill

"I loved being with a group of photographers discussing, building, and bouncing ideas off of each other and holding each other accountable. The shared experiences that we have had created such great camaraderie for the group."

Hear from 13-time workshop participant Ryan Schude:

Being a Lone Wolf Is Not the Answer

We often think there’s something romantic about the myth of the Lone Wolf. But lone wolfs are actually the ones that get pushed out of their tribes. They’re out there eating dead rats to survive. It’s sad, not something to strive for.

Being freelance means we’re operating at a disadvantage when it comes to building a community. We don't have one baked in from our office water cooler or co-worker Slack chats. It means we need to put energy and effort into building, fostering and maintaining our professional communities.

Art of Freelance is a workshop, but it’s also a community of dedicated and incredible creatives. It’s here because you deserve feedback, a space to experiment and accountability not just to yourself, but to others as well.

It’s easier in the short term to not bother with community, but don't get enamored by the myth of the Lone Wolf.

Join us in this workshop that provides concrete steps to completing your next project and community to help you get there.
